Attendance
The myAlliant portal Attendance module is ready for use. We had the opportunity to review the module and we have already made several requests for improvement. At the same time, we can no longer wait to complete attendance taking for the first census period. The add/drop period for all standard courses concluded this week and it is time for all instructors to complete the attendance census for each of their Fall 2103 courses. In an effort to keep this message brief, I am not reiterating the federally imposed guidelines related to attendance, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Detailed Instructions for entering attendance can be found on the Provost Page of the myAlliant portal under Faculty Teaching Resources. The instructions are brief, user friendly and provide screenshots.
ü If a student appears on your roster that had never attended or signed into your course, please mark them as “Never Attended”.
ü If a student attended one or more classes, but discontinued attending, please mark them as “Stopped Attending”. You will be prompted to enter the date of last attendance.
ü For all students in attendance, mark “Attending”.
ü If your course is in an executive format and has not begun, you do not need to take attendance until the course is underway.
ü For dissertation courses you are confirming that the student is still actively engaged and working with you.
ü For internship/practicum courses you are confirming that a student is still engaged at their site.
ü Contact for technical assistance at Helpdesk. Thanayi Karenga is also available to provide assistance with user support. She can be reached at [email protected] or 858-635-4655.
Please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] or (858) 635-4763, if you have any questions, issues or input. We already have a list of requests to improve the module and I would like to incorporate your feedback. As a couple of examples, we are requesting a pop-up that lets you know that you have successfully submitted your grades. For the census grading, we are asking for the ability to check all students as attending as a batch. I also welcome any positive feedback.
Thank you to all of the faculty members who agreed to test the module and special thanks to Pat Alley, Sherry Camden-Anders, and Tai Chang for their comprehensive feedback.
If you have a technical issue you can feel free to copy me on your email to [email protected]. My sincerest thanks for your responsiveness to recently imposed federal guidelines and our developed university standards.
