This is a two part process, so read the entire page please.
1. Login to the course and either create a new assignment (click here if you do not know how to do that) or click the small tool icon for the assignment (with editing turned on).
2. Make sure that the date range feature is not enabled. If the boxes to the left are checked, your students will not be able to see the assignment.
3. The next picture down shows "feedback settings." Here you will need to select YES from the drop down menu under "feedback files." By selecting yes, you will be given the option to return the graded word document to the student.
4. Click save and return to course.

Grade the assignment and return the graded document to the student.
1. Login to the course and click on the specific assignment that you want to grade.
2. Click on the "view/grade all submissions" (shown below in figure 1).
3. Once the screen open, find the student who's assignment you want to grade and click on the word document (shown in figure 2). Track the changes in the word document or just add your comments to the end of the student's assignment and then save as a new document. Make sure that you remember where you saved the assignment.
4. Click on the "grade" button (shown below in figure 3).
5. In this screen, you can see that the student's assignment is still there, but this is not the graded assignment.

The dialog box will open where you can click on "upload file" (shown below left). Then click on "browse" (shown below right).
