SPSS 26 MacOS Installation and Licensing

NOTE: If you have difficulties with permissions with Catalina MacOS 10.15, refer to web page:

1. Apple introduced tighter security in Catalina 10.15 for the following folders:

 

• Documents
• Downloads
• Desktop
• Connected external disks

 
This new security blocks the access of SPSS to the previous folders. You can solve this issue by making the changes described in the video at https://youtu.be/gmBn5SneX2I
 
 

1. Notarized applications are now mandatory

 
If you install any version of SPSS Statistics for the first time on Catalina 10.15, you will run into this issue because SPSS Statistics is not yet notarized by Apple.  You may see a warning message such as the following:

To solve this installation behavior, you can run a command to un-quarantine the SPSS Stats installer which will allow it to run properly as described in the video below https://youtu.be/-ptQIOjZTh4

Click on the "IBM_SPSS_26_MacOS.dmg" once its being downloaded.

Once the installer is open, click on "SPSS_Statistics_Installer".

​Click on "Open".

​Enter your local computer name and password to allow installation and click on "Install Helper".

Click "OK".

Click "OK" to being the installation of IBM SPSS 26.

Click "Next".

Click the radio button "I accept ..." followed by "Next".

Click on radio button "Yes" followed by "Next".

Click on radio button "I accept ..." followed by "Next".

Click on radio button "I accept" followed by "Next".

Click "Next".

​Click "Install".

Check "Start SPSS Statistics 26 License Authorization Wizard" followed by "Done".

Click "Next".

Check radio button "Autorized user license ..." followed by "Next".

Enter the license code from your email followed by "Add" and "Next".

On the next page you'll see the button "Finish". That completes the installation.
