Adding Large Files to Canvas as a Module Item
File storage within Canvas courses is limited. You can, however, bypass the storage limit by linking to files (documents, videos, etc) on your Alliant OneDrive account. Connected files live on OneDrive, but can be accessed by students from within your course.
Add an item from the Module Editor
You can display files in your Alliant OneDrive account to your course as module items.
In this example we are going to add a large video file to the course as a module item.

Change the dropdown to External Tool (1)
from the Dropdown menu, select Office 365 (2)
Then add the item (3)

If you have not linked your O365 account, you may be prompted to log in. Click the Log In button. This will connect you to OneDrive using your normal, Alliant credentials.
Once authenticated you will see the contents of your entire OneDrive folder. Select the item you wish to add, then select Attach File (2)
You will be brought back to the content screen. Difference now is that the URL and file name are now filled in with the appropriate OneDrive information.
Make sure to select ADD ITEM to add the newly linked content to your course.

The new file now appears in your Module list. The file lives on your OneDrive folder but now displays in your course. If you delete the file from OneDrive it will no longer link in your Canvas course.
As usual, make sure you PUBLISH the file (and the module) so students can see it.
