IBM SPSS Statistics
IBM SPSS Statistics is a powerful statistical software platform licensed by Alliant University for academic instruction, research, data collection, and analysis.
Alliant currently supports IBM SPSS Statistics version 29. This is the only version currently licensed and supported by Alliant.
Authorization Codes and License Renewals
SPSS authorization codes are valid for the current academic year. To obtain the current authorization code, submit an SPSS license request.
If SPSS displays an expiration notice or your existing authorization code no longer works, submit a new license request. You do not need to uninstall SPSS unless the version you are using differs from the version supported by Alliant or an Alliant IT representative instructs you to do so.
Availability on Campus
IBM SPSS Statistics Premium Campus Edition is installed on Alliant classroom and open-lab computers.
The Campus Edition includes the following modules:
Statistics Base, Advanced Statistics, Regression, Custom Tables, Data Preparation, Missing Values, Forecasting, Decision Trees, Direct Marketing, Complex Samples, Conjoint, Neural Networks, Bootstrapping, Categories, and Exact Tests.
Alliant-Issued Devices
IBM SPSS Statistics is available for installation on Alliant-issued desktop and laptop computers.
If SPSS is already installed on your Alliant-issued device and you receive an expiration or licensing notice, submit a service request for assistance.
If the installed version differs from the version currently supported by Alliant, submit a license request and a service request. An Alliant IT representative will assist with the installation, update, or activation.
Personal Devices and Off-Campus Use
IBM SPSS Statistics is available for installation on personally owned computers under the IBM SPSS “At Home” license program.
Access is available to:
- Alliant Core Faculty
- Students currently enrolled in a statistics or statistics-related course
- Students currently working on a dissertation
To obtain access, submit an SPSS license request.
If SPSS is already installed but differs from the version currently supported by Alliant, submit a license request for the current software and authorization information.
SPSS Statistics System Requirements
If you are a student or faculty member who is planning to install SPSS software on a personal device, please be aware of the following minimum system requirements:

- Apple MacOS Catalina (10.15) or newer.
- Memory: Minimum 8GB RAM, while 16GB RAM or more is highly recommended.
- Free drive space: 4x the size of your data file size. Example: 8GB free for 2GB SPSS data file.
Microsoft Windows, "IBM SPSS Statistics" System Requirements
- Microsoft Windows 10 or newer.
- Memory: Minimum 8GB RAM, while 16GB RAM or more is highly recommended.

Which MacOS version I have installed?
From the Apple menu in the corner of your screen, choose About This Mac. You should see the macOS name, such as macOS Catalina, followed by its version number.
Which Windows version I have installed?
To find out which version of Windows your device is running, press the Windows logo key + R, type winver in the Open box, and then select OK. Here's how to learn more: Select the Start button > Settings > System > About .
ChromeOS, Linux, Microsoft Surface currently are not supported by IBM SPSS Statistics.
Mobile platforms are not currently supported by IBM SPSS Statistics.
